There were 189 million fixed broadband subscribers in China at the end of Q4 2013. Annual growth stood at 7.85% while population penetration had reached 13.87%.
The Chinese fixed broadband market grew by 7.85% in 2013. The growth rate is above average for the Asia and compares favourably with every other global region apart from the Middle East & Africa. Population penetration is relatively low so there is plenty of opportunity for future growth.
China Telecom, not surprisingly, was the dominant player in the Chinese fixed broadband market at the end of Q4 2013 with a market share of 53%. The second biggest operator was China Unicom with 34.2% of the market while China Tietong had a 6.2% market share.
