Point Topic have once again co-authored the European Commission's key study on broadband coverage across the European continent, "Broadband Coverage in Europe."
The report, released in July 2024, tracks progress of member states in achieving gigabit-capable connectivity, with European VHCN (Very High Capacity Network, or gigabit-capable) coverage growing to 78.8%. For the first time, we also see more than 50% of rural households able to access gigabit-capable broadband.
Another change is the European Commission adding 3.4 - 3.8GHz band 5G as a new metric, highlighting the importance of distinguishing between this band and other, lower performing frequency bands.
